Memorial Day Observances

Memorial Day is on Monday, May 28 and there are a couple events in the Twin Cities that you can attend to honor the men and women that have given the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

The grounds around the Minnesota State Capitol host several war memorials. Two veterans organizations are gathering at the State Capitol on Monday. The Twin Cities Veterans for Peace will hold a memorial event at 9:30AM and the Vietnam Veterans of America will have a program beginning at 11:00AM.

At the Historic Fort Snelling the park is opening for the summer with events all weekend. On Monday Fort Snelling will be hosting a Memorial Day Tribute and Military Historic Timeline from 10:00AM to 5:00PM. Costumed staff will help interpret United States military history, with characters from 225 years of history. There will be military drills, cannon firings, and other historical reenactments. Veterans are given free admittance on Memorial Day.

Eagle's Friendly Turtle

Recently Turtle was out for a walk in 87 degree weather. He even let Dana hold him and say 'Hi'. You may recall from a previous blog post that one of our residents has a pet turtle.

Just strolling.

A Busy, Busy Spring At Eagle Ridge

If you've been out and around your community here at Eagle Ridge you will have noticed quite a few projects happening as we beautify the property for summer. Recently we had tree trimmers from Vineland Tree Care out to make sure our trees are growing strong and healthy, and to perform some maintenance. Scott, one of our painters, has busied himself with painting the pool, and if you check below you'll see a picture of it being filled - pool season is coming soon! Plus Liz, Jaime and Jeremiah have planted flowers at the entrances to our buildings and at the picnic areas. With all of this going on we've certainly been busy, but we're sure you'll agree it's worth it, Eagle Ridge is looking great this season!

Scott took on a huge project - painting the Eagle Ridge pool.

Scott finished! Now it's being filled.

Vineland Tree Care was out to trim our trees.

Brennan Is The Early Bird Winner.

Congratulations to your neighbor, Brennan, for winning the early bird drawing for the month of May!

We do this drawing every month and you have a chance to be the winner if you pay your rent on or before the 1st of the month. Everyone who pays their rent on or before the 1st of the month gets their name put into the Early Bird Drawing. Out of that pool of entrants a random name is selected and the lucky winner gets $50 off of rent for the following month.

So, when June's rent comes around don't forget the Early Bird Drawing and get your rent payment in early! We all know what the Early Bird gets... that's right, a chance to get $50 off of rent the next month.

Balconies are Blooming!

We may have had cold and rainy Saturdays for the last three weeks, but that doesn't mean you can't get patio and balcony decorations going! Jeremiah, a resident from our sister community Lexington Heights, spent his afternoon filling his balcony with osteospermum, bridal veil, lobelia, million bells, bacopa, sweet potato vine, petunias, flowering tobacco, and sweet allysum. We are excited to see these blooming for the rest of the season!

Appropriate patio and balcony plants and decorations are not just allowed -- they are encouraged. Your green thumb could even win you a prize for the best looking balcony in the community. Let's see some nice competition for Jeremiah! Send us pictures of your beautiful balconies -- we'd love to see them and hopefully feature them on the blog.
